NSF-BSF Changes in the Computer and Information Sciences and Engineering (CISE) directorate

Event Date

The BSF wants to draw your attention to several important changes in the Computer and Information Sciences and Engineering (CISE) directorate. CISE has merged all former divisions and their programs (CCF, IIS, and CNS) under the umbrella of the directorate. This means that US PIs will now submit their applications to specific programs (e.g., Algorithmic Foundations) within CISE. The directorate has moved to a unified budget structure instead of the previous Small and Medium options. US PIs may now request up to $1M for up to 4 years. Israeli PIs can now request up to 400K shekels per year. These changes should not negatively affect joint NSF-BSF applications and may actually make it easier to submit to the various programs in CISE. While proposals are accepted year-round, proposers are strongly encouraged to submit by the target dates to ensure consideration during the corresponding panel review cycle. Target submission dates for NSF applications are September 11, 2025, and February 5, 2026. For more information about the new solicitation you can read the call for proposal here.
