The Chief Scientist unit in the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology aims to lead the State of Israel to the forefront of science and technology by funding applied research in strategic national priority areas.

Researchers will operate in alignment with this goal, while emphasizing the quality and excellence of research, creativity, applicability, and leading the State of Israel to the forefront of global applied science.

The Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology accepts applications in various fields including exact sciences medicine, life sciences, social sciences and humanities.

The Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology offers grants on four main tracks:

  1. National Research Grant Track: grants for applied scientific research conducted by researchers in Israel only.
  2. International Collaborative Research Grant Track:  grants for applied scientific research conducted by Israeli academic researchers as part of international or multinational collaborations with researchers from other countries.
  3. National knowledge Center Track: grants to make knowledge or research infrastructures accessible to all researchers in Israel within a specific field
  4. Scholarships: designated scholarships for various fields, which change in accordance with national priority areas.

All applications must be submitted through the 'Forefront of Science' online system.
